QR Code for Heuriger and Buschenschank: ausg’steckt times, menu and directions always up to date

A Heuriger or a Buschenschank lives by changing times. It is ausg’steckt only on certain weeks, the Jause changes with the offer, and the new wine is added in autumn. Printed calendars and notices are quickly outdated. A QR code on the sign, at the Buschenschank and on the business card, however, always leads to the current status — without new printing.

ausg’steckt: Maintain times

In the template, you set for each day of the week whether it is open and from when to when — with a second time period if it is closed at lunch. For the ausg’steckt weeks, use the "Latest" field at the very top: "ausg’steckt from 10 to 26 October", along with an expiry date. Once the date has passed, the page shows this automatically, rather than leaving a false date displayed. At the top, it also shows "Open now" or "Closed · opens tomorrow at 15:00", calculated according to the guest's phone clock.

The Jause and the wine

Maintain the menu as a list with categories: Cold Jause, Spreads, Hot dishes, Sweets, plus the wines by the glass and by the bottle. Under each item, there is space for allergens or a short description. Those who already have the menu on paper can photograph it and have it scanned.

Where the code belongs

  • on the sign by the road — whoever drives by sees immediately if it is open
  • on the Buschenschank or the sign at the entrance
  • on the table card, so guests can read and reorder the wines
  • on business cards and flyers for guests who want to return

For the outdoor sign, a large code with good contrast is worthwhile. As a rule of thumb: Minimum size is about one-tenth of the scanning distance. If it should be scannable from two metres, you need a code of around 20 centimetres.

Guests come back

Many regular customers photograph the code or save the page. Because the code is dynamic, they find the new dates there next year — without you having to maintain a list or write a newsletter.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a new code every year?

No. The code remains the same; you only change the times and dates on the page. Signs and notices can stay up for years.

Do guests see if it is currently open?

Yes. Based on the entered times, the page shows "Open now" at the top or when it will be open again — according to the time on the guest's phone.

Does this cost anything?

One page is included in the free tier. Those who want multiple pages, e.g. Winery and Menu separately, need a paid tier.
