QR code at wine fairs and tastings: Wine list, ordering and contact without paper piles
At a wine fair, a trade visitor has only a few minutes at the stand. They taste, take notes, and move on — and by evening, they no longer remember which Grüner Veltliner came from the cool site. Brochures only help to a limited extent: they are expensive, quickly run out of stock, and are incorrect after the first price change. A QR code at the stand solves this better.
What belongs behind the code
- the wine list for the fair with vintage, site and price — for the hospitality and trade sectors, preferably a separate page with trader prices
- an "Latest" notice: fair offer, stand number, tasting times
- buttons to data sheets, ordering by email, appointment and shop
- telephone and address for the visit to the winery
Editable until the last minute
The biggest advantage becomes apparent before the fair: the code is already printed on the roll-up, table stand and business card, but the wine list is not yet finished. With a dynamic code, this is no problem. You print the code early and manage wines and prices until the morning of the opening. If a wine is sold out, you remove it from the stand via the telephone.
Separating end consumers and trade
At many fairs, private customers and trade visitors are at the same table. It has proven effective to set up two pages: a winery page with end consumer prices and a shop, and a second page with trader prices, pack sizes and contact for the sales force. Both get their own code — the trade visitor page, for example, on the business card, which is only handed over in conversation.
What the code reveals after the fair
Every code counts its scans. If you use a separate code for the roll-up, table card and business card, you can see after the fair which stand location actually had an effect. For the next fair, this is worth more than any estimate.
Practical tips for printing
- at least 15 to 20 centimetres large on the roll-up, at eye level
- dark code on a light background, no pattern behind it
- next to the code, say in a few words what awaits behind it: "Wine list & prices"
- test beforehand with two or three phones from the real distance
Frequently asked questions
The pages are accessible via their address, but are not linked anywhere and are blocked for search engines. If you only want to show trader prices to trade visitors, pass on the code for this only in conversation.
The visitor's telephone needs a data connection. At fairs with weak network coverage, a short note on the fair Wi-Fi next to the code helps.
Yes. After the fair, switch the page to your regular offer. Business cards and roll-ups remain valid.
