QR Codes for Wineries: What is possible — from e-labels to the farm gate

Since wine must list ingredients and nutritional values, the QR code on the back label has arrived in many cellars. However, it can do much more than just meet legal requirements. It is crucial to separate the two tasks: What the law requires belongs on an e-label without advertising. Everything intended to sell belongs on a separate page with its own code.

Mandatory vs. Optional at a Glance

1. The e-label on the back label

This is the only code a winery might need: The ingredient list and nutritional table may be placed behind a QR code instead of on the label. The rules for this are strict — no advertising, no sales content, no collection of user data. At Same-QR, there is the template 'Wine e-label', which is built exactly like this.

2. The Winery Page

For everything else, there is a separate page: Wine list with vintage, site and price, an 'Latest' indicator for young wine or farm festival, times for farm-gate sales and tastings, directions and buttons to the shop and Instagram. It is designed for the phone and filled in a quarter of an hour — without an agency and without a homepage.

3. Farm Gate, Wine List, Carton

The same code can be hung in many places. If you want to know which location works best, give each one its own code and see in the statistics how often it is scanned. For the winery page, Same-QR also counts the page views. For the e-label, there is only a purely anonymous sum — without IP address and without any information about the visitors.

4. Trade Fairs, Tastings, Heuriger

Where offers and dates often change, the dynamic code shows its strength: printed once, changed in the dashboard. Sold-out wines disappear from the phone, new dates are online immediately, the sign remains hanging.

Why dynamic?

  • The printed code remains the same, only the destination changes — no reprinting for new prices or dates.
  • A new vintage with different nutritional values gets a new page; the old one remains for the bottles in retail.
  • If the winery gets its own website later, the destination is switched — all codes on signs and cartons remain valid.

Frequently asked questions

Is a QR code on the wine bottle mandatory?

No. Ingredients and nutritional values are mandatory. They can be printed on the label or stored as an e-label behind a QR code.

Can I put the e-label and shop in one code?

No. The e-label must not show sales or advertising content. For the shop and farm history, a second code with its own page is required.

How many pages do I need?

One winery page and one e-label per wine. The free tier includes one page, Start includes 5, Pro includes 25, Agentur includes 100.
