Same-QR for Developers: API, MCP Server and CLI at a Glance

Three access methods, one account

Same-QR for Developers means: Everything the dashboard can do is also available as a REST API, as an MCP Server for AI assistants, and as a command line. All three call the same functions, with the same tariff limits and checks, and all three are included in every tariff.

The Access

You create the key in the dashboard under Account, "Access for CLI, scripts and agents", as "read only", "read + write" (create, change names and texts) or "full" (additionally change targets, take offline, delete), validity 30, 90, 180, or 365 days or consciously unlimited, up to 10 per account. The key starts with sqr_live_, is displayed once, and belongs in the environment variable SAMEQR_API_KEY.

The REST API

curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $SAMEQR_API_KEY" https://sameqr.com/api/v1/konto
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $SAMEQR_API_KEY" https://sameqr.com/api/v1/qr

Codes, statistics, hosted pages, menus from photos, labels, customer projects, and enquiries. Errors are uniformly returned as an error object with status, code, and message. The full description is available at /api/v1/openapi.json. Limits: 120 enquiries per minute per key, 60, 300, 1,000, or 5,000 per hour depending on the tariff.

The MCP Server

Address https://sameqr.com/api/mcp. ChatGPT and Claude.ai add it as a connector and log in via OAuth. For Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http sameqr https://sameqr.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer $SAMEQR_API_KEY"

For Cursor and Codex, "sameqr mcp" displays the entries for ~/.cursor/mcp.json and ~/.codex/config.toml. With a read key, an agent sees only the read tools.

The CLI

npm install -g sameqr
sameqr login
sameqr qr create --name "Speisekarte" --url https://example.com/karte
sameqr seite create --vorlage speisekarte --name "Gasthof zum Löwen"
sameqr karte import karte.jpg --seite menu/gasthof-zum-loewen
sameqr seite publish menu/gasthof-zum-loewen

Without dependencies, from Node.js 18, with --json for scripts and unique return values for errors. "sameqr --help" shows all commands.
