WordPress and Same-QR: Meaningfully combining the plugin, API, and assistant

What the plugin does

The Same-QR WordPress plugin registers every page of your website and every move of a page, including what is not in any sitemap. Same-QR uses this for two things: It checks the targets of your codes at night, and after a relaunch, it suggests the new address for affected codes. Changes are only made when you confirm. The plugin is in Beta and belongs to the Pro tariff and above.

Step 1: Install the plugin

  • Download the plugin's ZIP file in the dashboard, do not unpack it.
  • In WordPress: Plugins, Install, Upload Plugin, choose file, Install Now, Activate.
  • In the WordPress menu, click on "Same-QR" and then on "Connect with Same-QR" and allow.

The plugin receives its own website key. It may only reconcile this one website, cannot delete codes, and cannot change other websites. It is intentionally not suitable for the REST API.

When the API comes into play

The plugin keeps the mapping between the website and the codes up to date. For everything beyond that, there is the REST API at /api/v1 and the command line sameqr, with a dedicated key from the account, Access for CLI, scripts and agents:

  • Create many codes for new pages at once.
  • Bring scan numbers into your own reporting.
  • Maintain hosted pages or menus that are not hosted on WordPress.

Agents in WordPress workflows

If you develop WordPress themes or plugins with a coding agent such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex, integrate Same-QR as an MCP server. The agent then sees both the code and the QR codes, and can check which codes point to the pages you are currently modifying. „sameqr mcp“ displays the relevant entries.

Relaunch with WordPress

  • Before: Save the current status of the codes with „sameqr qr list --json“.
  • During: Set up redirects in WordPress as usual.
  • After: Review and confirm Same-QR’s suggestions in the dashboard.
  • Redirect codes without a suggestion using an agent or CLI.
  • Scan some codes with your mobile phone.

Which role for what

  • Website key of the plugin: only for verifying this website.
  • Read-only key: reports and evaluations.
  • “read + write” key: scripts and agents that create codes and pages.
  • “full” key: workflows that change targets, with confirmation and at most 10 per hour.

Conclusion: why Same-QR

Same-QR thinks WordPress with: a plugin that knows every page and every move, suggestions after the relaunch that you only confirm, and also API, CLI and MCP server for everything else. This way, printed codes and website stay together, even if the addresses change.

Frequently asked questions

In which plan is the WordPress plugin included?

From the Pro plan. It is still in beta.

Does the plugin change my QR codes automatically?

No. Same-QR suggests new targets, changes are made only after your confirmation.

Can I use the website key for the API?

No, intentionally not. It may only be used for the synchronization of this website. For API and CLI, you create your own key.
