Switching from QR Code Generator PRO to Same-QR: Step by step

Before you start: Inventory

Anyone who wants to switch from QR Code Generator PRO to Same-QR should first know what is moving. Log in to the old account and note the name, current destination, and short link for each dynamic code. According to the help centre, the short link for QR Code Generator PRO starts with qrco.de, sometimes also with l.ead.me. Note where the code is printed.

The help centre of QR Code Generator PRO does not describe a list of all codes with destinations as CSV (as of October 2026). Documented are a CSV export of scan statistics per code and a batch download of images as ZIP in the Professional and Enterprise plans. With few codes, the list is quickly created by hand; a simple table suffices.

If you no longer know which printed code belongs to which entry: take a photo of the code and upload it in Same-QR under “Read a QR image”. Same-QR reads what is in the code, i.e. the old short link. Where that short link redirects to, you can see in your old provider’s account.

Create codes in Same-QR

Register with Same-QR. Two dynamic codes are permanently free, without a credit card. For more codes, you choose a paid plan; Start offers 25 codes for €5.90 per month, Pro offers 150 codes for €14.90 per month.

In the dashboard, under “Many codes at once”, you will find “Import a spreadsheet”. Download the template there, enter your codes and upload the file again. The template has three columns: Name, Target URL and Labels. Comma and semicolon both work as separators; separate several labels with a vertical bar (|). Labels that do not exist yet are created during the import. CSV import is part of the Start plan and above.

As the destination, enter your actual website or file, not the old qrco.de link. For important codes, you can choose a descriptive link when creating it, such as sameqr.com/r/menu. It is then fixed because it is embedded in the new print.

The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.

The bridge: Redirecting qrco.de codes to Same-QR

Now comes the step that saves the reprint. According to the help centre, you change the destination of a code in QR Code Generator PRO by entering a new address under “Destination” and saving it. Enter the new Same-QR short link there. A scan then runs from the printed qrco.de code via Same-QR to your destination.

  • First test the new Same-QR code alone.
  • Then change the destination of the old code and save.
  • Scan the printed code and check if it lands correctly.
  • Check the item in the list so no code is forgotten.

New printed materials and replacement

From now on, every new printed material will receive the Same-QR code. Print files are available in every plan as PNG, SVG, and PDF. You replace the old prints based on importance: first, those that are scanned frequently and remain in place for a long time, such as signs and table tents. Flyers and promotional posters often expire on their own.

When you cancel the old subscription

According to the help centre, QR Code Generator PRO deactivates dynamic codes after the end of the free trial period; a scan then leads to a service page, but the data remains and can be reactivated via an upgrade. The help centre does not describe what happens after the end of a paid subscription. Therefore, ask the provider before cancelling whether your codes will continue to redirect afterwards, and plan the bridge as if it ends with the subscription. According to the pricing page, subscriptions renew automatically; cancellation must be made up to 30 days before the end of the billing period, and an informal email is sufficient. Note the end of the term and the deadline in your calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Can Same-QR take over my qrco.de links?

No. The short links are on the domain of the old provider. Instead, you redirect their destination to the new Same-QR codes as long as your old subscription is active.

How long must my old subscription continue?

Until the important printed materials have been replaced. Whether QR Code Generator PRO continues to redirect after the end of a paid subscription is not described in the help centre; ask beforehand and, in case of doubt, assume that the redirection ends with the subscription.

Can I take my old scan statistics with me?

Generally no. Save the statistics before cancellation with the old provider, as far as they offer an export. In Same-QR, the count begins with the first scan via the new code.

What happens to my Same-QR codes if I cancel later?

Codes within the quota continue to work; in the free plan, the two oldest ones. Codes above the quota are deactivated after a 14-day grace period and three warning emails, but not deleted, and work again as soon as your plan covers them.
