Switching from QRCodeChimp to Same-QR: Step by step

Inventory in the Chimp account

Anyone wanting to switch from QRCodeChimp to Same-QR starts with a list: Name, destination, and short link of each dynamic code, plus the location where it is printed. According to the pricing page (as of October 2026), QRCodeChimp offers downloading statistics as an Excel file and exporting all code addresses from the Pro plan onwards. The column names are not publicly documented; look at the file and add what is missing.

If you no longer know which printed code belongs to which entry: take a photo of the code and upload it in Same-QR under “Read a QR image”. Same-QR reads what is in the code, i.e. the old short link. Where that short link redirects to, you can see in your old provider’s account.

Create codes in Same-QR

Create a new one in Same-QR for each code that needs to be moved. Two codes are permanently free, more are available starting with the Start plan at 25 codes for €5.90 per month.

In the dashboard, under “Many codes at once”, you will find “Import a spreadsheet”. Download the template there, enter your codes and upload the file again. The template has three columns: Name, Target URL and Labels. Comma and semicolon both work as separators; separate several labels with a vertical bar (|). Labels that do not exist yet are created during the import. CSV import is part of the Start plan and above.

The destination is always your actual website, not the old Chimp short link.

The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.

Bridge: Redirecting Chimp codes

As long as your Chimp plan is active, you change the destination of each dynamic code to the new Same-QR link. A scan then runs from the printed code via Same-QR to your destination. Test each redirected code with your mobile phone.

According to the QRCodeChimp pricing page (as of October 2026), when falling back to the free plan: All dynamic codes except the last 10 are paused. This is a fair rule and helpful for the move: For up to 10 codes, the bridge can remain in place even after cancellation. Check in your account which codes these are for you.

Replace printed materials

New prints get the Same-QR code directly, as PNG, SVG, or PDF. You replace the old ones based on importance, especially the codes that would be paused after falling back.

Cancel subscription

Cancel the paid Chimp plan once the codes outside the active 10 have been replaced. The remaining codes then continue to redirect via the bridge to Same-QR, without you paying at QRCodeChimp.

All paid Same-QR plans can be cancelled monthly at the end of the billing period, with no minimum term. You can also cancel without signing in via “Cancel contracts here” at the bottom of the website.

At Same-QR, the end of a subscription is handled as follows: Codes within the quota of your new plan continue to run unchanged – in the free plan, the two oldest. Codes beyond that are deactivated by us only after a 14-day grace period, and you will receive three emails beforehand (7, 3, and 1 day before). Deactivated does not mean deleted: The code shows a notice instead of the destination when scanned and works again as soon as your plan covers it.

Frequently asked questions

Do my Chimp codes continue to work after cancellation?

According to the QRCodeChimp pricing page, when falling back to the free plan, the last 10 dynamic codes remain active, while the others are paused.

Can I keep the bridge without a Chimp subscription?

For the codes that remain active in the free plan, yes. Your destination will then continue to point to Same-QR.

Can I take my old scan statistics with me?

Generally no. Save the statistics before cancellation with the old provider, as far as they offer an export. In Same-QR, the count begins with the first scan via the new code.

What happens to my Same-QR codes if I cancel later?

Codes within the quota continue to work; in the free plan, the two oldest ones. Codes above the quota are deactivated after a 14-day grace period and three warning emails, but not deleted, and work again as soon as your plan covers them.
