Events and trade fairs: Automatically generate QR codes for booths, programs, and signage

Many codes, short preparation

Event QR codes are everywhere: at every booth, on room signs, in the program booklet, at the coat check. Creating them individually costs hours that are scarce before an event. With the command line or an assistant, they are generated from the list you already have.

Step 1: Codes from the program list

Export the list of booths or program items as a file with name and target, e.g., staende.csv. Create a label for the event and retrieve its identifier with "sameqr labels list". Then:

while IFS=";" read -r name url; do
sameqr qr create --name "Messe 2026 $name" --url "$url" --label <label-id> --json || break
done < staende.csv > event-codes.json

Without the command line, you can use the CSV import in the dashboard from the Start tariff or an assistant: "Create one code for each of these 30 booths, label Messe 2026." For leads at your own booth, a contact page with a form is suitable.

Step 2: Printing

With the batch download, you get all print files at once, as SVG or PDF. For signs at a distance, the code should be large enough; a test print at the actual location is worthwhile.

Step 3: Changes on the day of the event

A lecture moves to another room, a booth relocates: You change the target, the printed signs remain. In conversation with the assistant: "The lecture on Digitalization is now in Room B, switch the code to the new room page." From the Pro tariff onwards, time-based target switching happens automatically, e.g., from the first day's program to the second day's.

Step 4: After the event

Do not delete the codes. Redirect them to a recap, the presentations, or the appointment for next year. Anyone scanning the program booklet weeks later will then land on something meaningful.

Step 5: Evaluation per booth

Because each booth has its own code, the statistics show where scanning occurred. An assistant directly answers the question, "Which ten codes with the label 'Messe 2026' were scanned most frequently?", while "sameqr qr list --json" provides the numbers for your own evaluation.

Conclusion: why Same-QR

Same-QR is designed for events: codes from the list in minutes, bulk download for printing, goals that can be changed on the day of the event, time control from the Pro plan, and statistics per booth. And no code becomes a dead end after the event.

Frequently asked questions

How many codes can I create for an event?

As many as your plan allows: 25 in Start, 150 in Pro, 1,000 in Agentur.

Can I still change codes on the day of the event?

Yes, at any time, in the dashboard, via CLI, or in conversation with an assistant. The printed codes remain valid.

What do I do with the codes after the event?

Redirect them to a recap or the next appointment instead of deleting them.
