Hovercode: CSV export and import in Same-QR

What Hovercode exports

According to the pricing page of Hovercode (as of October 2026), there is a Hovercode CSV export of scan activity for a selected period starting from the "Business" plan. The columns of this file are not publicly documented. You will see whether it contains the name and destination of each code after downloading.

For mass import, the Hovercode help centre mentions a table with the columns links and display_name. If you have created your codes this way, this table is a good starting point.

Assembling the code list

For the migration, you need the name, the destination, and for the bridge, the old short link for each code. Take the export file or your old import table and add what is missing. With few codes, a new table with the columns Name, Target URL, and Labels is often the fastest.

If you no longer know which printed code belongs to which entry: take a photo of the code and upload it in Same-QR under “Read a QR image”. Same-QR reads what is in the code, i.e. the old short link. Where that short link redirects to, you can see in your old provider’s account.

Preparing columns for Same-QR

  • Optionally create a "Labels" column, with multiple labels separated by a vertical bar (|).
  • Destination URLs completely with https://.
  • Save the file as "CSV UTF-8".

Import and verification

In the dashboard, under “Many codes at once”, you will find “Import a spreadsheet”. Download the template there, enter your codes and upload the file again. The template has three columns: Name, Target URL and Labels. Comma and semicolon both work as separators; separate several labels with a vertical bar (|). Labels that do not exist yet are created during the import. CSV import is part of the Start plan and above.

Then check the number and scan samples. The number of codes is limited by the plan: Start 25, Pro 150, Agentur 1,000.

The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.

Set up the bridge

While your subscription is active, set the destination of each Hovercode to the new Same-QR link. According to the Hovercode pricing page (as of October 2026), the first 3 dynamic codes remain active after cancellation; the others become inactive but can be reactivated. These 3 codes continue to redirect even after cancellation; you must replace all others beforehand.

For later: With Same-QR, you can download the entire list as CSV at any time using “Export all”, in every plan.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Hovercode „Business“ for the migration?

No. According to the pricing page, the CSV export of activity is available from „Business“, but you can also create the import list manually or from your old import spreadsheet.

Can I upload my Hovercode import spreadsheet directly?

Yes. The migration assistant recognizes the columns on the left and display_name; for „Import a spreadsheet“, rename them to Target URL and Name. Check beforehand whether the destinations are still current.

Can I take my old scan statistics with me?

Generally no. Save the statistics before cancellation with the old provider, as far as they offer an export. In Same-QR, the count begins with the first scan via the new code.

From which plan can I import at Same-QR?

CSV import is included in the Start plan and above. In the free plan, you create two codes manually.
