QR Code Generator: Trial period expired, code shows service page – what now?

Why the code suddenly stops forwarding

When the trial period expires for QR Code Generator, the behavior of dynamic codes changes. According to the pricing page (as of October 2026), the trial lasts 14 days and does not require a credit card. According to the help centre, dynamic codes are deactivated when the free trial ends; a scan then lands on a service page of the provider instead of your destination.

Technically, this is simple: The code contains a short link to qrco.de, and the provider decides where it forwards. After the trial period, it forwards to their own page. According to the help centre, your data is not lost and can be reactivated via an upgrade.

Your options at a glance

  • Upgrade with QR Code Generator: The codes work again, the data is there. According to the pricing page, Starter costs €8 per month with annual payment or €16 monthly, with 2 dynamic codes and 10,000 scans.
  • Upgrade for a limited time, then move: You reactivate, switch the destinations to Same-QR, and replace the printed materials at your leisure.
  • Reprint with a new provider: sensible if only a small amount was printed.
  • Do nothing: The printed codes remain on the service page.

Which option fits depends on how much has already been printed and how long it remains in circulation.

Quickly reachable again: Bridge or upgrade

If many codes are printed, the fastest way is usually an upgrade with the current provider. Pay attention to the conditions: According to the pricing page, subscriptions automatically renew; cancellation must be made up to 30 days before the end of the billing period, an informal email is sufficient. Choose the term so that it fits your plan. Whether the codes continue to forward after the end of a paid subscription is not described in the help centre; ask beforehand.

If you want to switch, you use the active time for the bridge: Create codes at Same-QR and set the destination of each code to the new Same-QR link at the old provider under "Destination". Then the printed codes are redirected via Same-QR, and new prints get the Same-QR code immediately.

The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.

If nothing has been printed yet

If you have only tried the codes and not printed them yet, the situation is simple: Create them again at Same-QR and print these. Two dynamic codes are permanently free at Same-QR, without a credit card and without an expiration date, with 10,000 scans per month. You can change the destination twice per code in the free plan, and unlimited times within the first 30 days after registration.

Test without time pressure in the future

Before you print, it is worth looking at the terms: What happens to the codes when the trial ends? Is there a free plan without an expiration date? How long does the subscription run, and how do you cancel?

At Same-QR: Even after the 30 days, your two free codes remain scannable, without an expiration date.

All paid Same-QR plans can be cancelled monthly at the end of the billing period, with no minimum term. You can also cancel without signing in via “Cancel contracts here” at the bottom of the website.

At Same-QR, the end of a subscription is handled as follows: Codes within the quota of your new plan continue to run unchanged – in the free plan, the two oldest. Codes beyond that are deactivated by us only after a 14-day grace period, and you will receive three emails beforehand (7, 3, and 1 day before). Deactivated does not mean deleted: The code shows a notice instead of the destination when scanned and works again as soon as your plan covers it.
