Cancel QR Code Generator PRO: What happens to printed QR codes?
What the help centre says and what it doesn't
Anyone who wants to cancel QR Code Generator PRO should know the consequences for printed codes. According to the provider's help centre (as of October 2026), dynamic codes are deactivated when the free trial period ends. A scan no longer lands on your destination, but on a service page of QR Code Generator PRO. What happens after the end of a paid subscription is not described in the help centre.
According to the help centre, nothing is deleted during the trial period; the data remains stored, and the codes can be reactivated via an upgrade. For your paid subscription, it is best to ask in writing before cancellation what happens to the codes. Until you receive an answer, plan as if they will no longer redirect afterwards.
What this means for your printed materials
The printed code contains a short link to qrco.de. This link is controlled only by QR Code Generator PRO. Whether it continues to redirect after cancellation is decided solely by the provider, regardless of whether the code is on a menu, a poster, or packaging. Another provider cannot take over the link. If it no longer redirects, it affects:
- Table tents and menus: Guests no longer land on the menu.
- Posters and flyers: Actions are no longer accessible.
- Packaging and labels: often in circulation for months, difficult to replace.
- Business cards: your contact is no longer retrievable via scan.
Cancellation period and extension in view
According to the pricing page of QR Code Generator PRO (as of October 2026), subscriptions renew automatically; cancellation must be made up to 30 days before the end of the billing period, an informal email is sufficient. The Starter plan costs €8 per month with annual payment (€96 per year) or €16 with monthly payment. Check your account to see when your term ends, and count back 30 days. This way, you know until when you must decide and how much time remains for the move.
Move first, then cancel
The safe sequence is: move the codes first, then cancel. As long as your subscription is active, you can enter a new destination for each code under "Destination". Enter the link of a new Same-QR code there. Then the printed code redirects via Same-QR, and you can replace the printed materials at your leisure. This is the bridge method.
- Create codes in Same-QR, individually or via "Import a spreadsheet" (from plan Start).
- Set the destination of each code at the old provider to the new Same-QR link.
- Test printed codes.
- Only use Same-QR codes for new printed materials.
- Save scan statistics (according to the help centre, per code as CSV) and cancel.
The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.
How Same-QR handles the end of the subscription
At Same-QR, the end of a subscription is handled as follows: Codes within the quota of your new plan continue to run unchanged – in the free plan, the two oldest. Codes beyond that are deactivated by us only after a 14-day grace period, and you will receive three emails beforehand (7, 3, and 1 day before). Deactivated does not mean deleted: The code shows a notice instead of the destination when scanned and works again as soon as your plan covers it.
All paid plans from Same-QR can be cancelled monthly at the end of the billing period, with no minimum term. You can also cancel without logging in via "Cancel contracts here" at the bottom of the website. Two dynamic codes remain permanently free in the free plan, with 10,000 scans per month.
Frequently asked questions
For the end of the free trial, the help centre says: deactivated, data remains, reactivation via upgrade. For the end of a paid subscription, it describes nothing; ask the provider before cancelling.
Do not plan that. Change the destinations while your subscription is active, then each printed code will redirect via the new provider until the subscription ends.
According to the pricing page of QR Code Generator PRO, you cancel up to 30 days before the end of the billing period; a simple email is sufficient; subscriptions renew automatically (as of October 2026).
Codes within the quota continue to work; in the free plan, the two oldest ones. Codes above the quota are deactivated after a 14-day grace period and three warning emails, but not deleted, and work again as soon as your plan covers them.
