Cancel QR TIGER: What happens to printed QR codes?

What QR TIGER's FAQ says

Before you cancel QR TIGER, it is worth looking at the provider's FAQ. It states essentially (as of October 2026): If your plan expires, dynamic codes no longer work. Data is retained for at most one year. According to the FAQ, dynamic codes run via short links from the domain qr1.be.

This is a clear rule, and it is stated openly in the FAQ. For you, this means: Anything printed must have a solution before the plan ends.

What this means for printed codes

Every printed dynamic code contains a qr1.be link. If the plan ends, a scan will no longer reach your destination, whether the code is on a menu, a poster, or packaging. No one else can take over the link, as the domain belongs to QR TIGER.

  • Plan for codes on long-lasting printed materials like signs and packaging first.
  • Short-lived prints like flyers often expire on their own.
  • Codes with no scans for months may not need to be moved.

Secure data before the end

Since data is retained for at most one year according to the FAQ, you secure what you want to keep beforehand. According to product updates, scan data from the statistics can be downloaded as CSV, and code images can be downloaded together as ZIP. Also, note the names, destinations, and qr1.be links of all codes in a spreadsheet.

Redirect first, then cancel

  • Create a new one for every important code at Same-QR; the destination is your actual website.
  • At QR TIGER, set the destination of each code to the new Same-QR link.
  • Test printed codes.
  • Only use Same-QR codes for new printed materials.
  • Only cancel once the important printed materials have been replaced.

This is how you forward the printed qr1.be codes via Same-QR until the end of the plan. This is the bridge method.

The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.

End subscription at Same-QR

At Same-QR, the end of a subscription is handled as follows: Codes within the quota of your new plan continue to run unchanged – in the free plan, the two oldest. Codes beyond that are deactivated by us only after a 14-day grace period, and you will receive three emails beforehand (7, 3, and 1 day before). Deactivated does not mean deleted: The code shows a notice instead of the destination when scanned and works again as soon as your plan covers it.

All paid plans from Same-QR can be cancelled monthly at the end of the billing period, with no minimum term. You can also cancel without logging in via “Cancel contracts here” at the bottom of the website. Two dynamic codes are permanently free, with 10,000 scans per month and no ads.
