Cancel QRCodeChimp: What happens to printed QR codes?
What happens according to the pricing page when falling back to Free
Anyone who wants to cancel QRCodeChimp will find the rule on the pricing page. According to QRCodeChimp's pricing page (as of October 2026), when falling back to the Free plan: All dynamic codes except the last 10 are paused. The Free plan itself includes 10 dynamic codes and 1,000 scans per month according to the pricing page.
Paused means: The printed code no longer reaches its destination as long as it is paused. It is not deleted.
Which codes remain active
According to the pricing page, these are the last 10 dynamic codes. Check in your account which codes these exactly are before you cancel. If your most important printed codes are outside of these 10, they need a solution beforehand.
- Create a list of all dynamic codes with the location of printing.
- Mark which ones remain active after falling back.
- For all other plans: Bridge to Same-QR, exchange, or let them expire consciously.
Redirect first, then cancel
- For each code that would be paused, create a new one at Same-QR.
- At QRCodeChimp, set its destination to the new Same-QR link while the plan is active.
- Test printed codes, use only Same-QR for new prints.
- Cancel when the paused codes are replaced.
Pay attention to the scan limit of the Free plan: According to the pricing page, it is 1,000 scans per month. If many active Chimp codes redirect after cancellation, each scan there counts.
The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.
The 10 free codes as a permanent bridge
You can continue using the codes that remain active: Switch their destination to Same-QR, then manage them there, and QRCodeChimp will redirect for free. This way, long-lasting printed materials like signs remain accessible without a reprint. In the next regular print run, you replace them with Same-QR codes.
End subscription at Same-QR
At Same-QR, the end of a subscription is handled as follows: Codes within the quota of your new plan continue to run unchanged – in the free plan, the two oldest. Codes beyond that are deactivated by us only after a 14-day grace period, and you will receive three emails beforehand (7, 3, and 1 day before). Deactivated does not mean deleted: The code shows a notice instead of the destination when scanned and works again as soon as your plan covers it.
All paid Same-QR plans can be cancelled monthly at the end of the billing period, with no minimum term. You can also cancel without signing in via “Cancel contracts here” at the bottom of the website.
