Relaunch with Agent: Switch printed QR codes to new addresses
The forgotten construction site
After a relaunch, old links often only work via redirects, or not at all. Printed QR codes are particularly affected, as they cannot be corrected retroactively if they are static. With dynamic codes from Same-QR, the target is ours. You switch it directly to the new address.
Step 1: Retrieve the list of codes
sameqr qr list --json > codes-vorher.jsonSave this file. It is your state before the relaunch and your fallback level.
Step 2: Map old to new
For the website, you need a mapping of old and new addresses anyway, often called a Redirect Map. A coding agent like Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex connected to Same-QR reconciles both:
"Read the Redirect Map in redirects.csv and my QR codes from Same-QR. Create a list: Code, old target, new target. Mark codes with no match. Do not change anything yet."
Step 3: Switch
Check the list, clarify the marked codes and release them: "Reorder the codes from the list and leave the marked ones out." Alternatively as a script with the CLI, one "sameqr qr update <id> --url <new>" per line. Test beforehand whether each new address responds. Note: Via Agent, CLI and API, there are a maximum of 10 target changes per hour and 30 per day, each with confirmation and a key "full". With dozens of codes, you reorder the rest with the finished list in the dashboard; there is no limit there.
Step 4: Verify
- Scan a few codes per group with a mobile phone.
- Save „sameqr qr list --json“ again and compare with the previous state.
- Ask the agent: „Does any code still point to an address on the old website?“
The nightly target check
Same-QR checks the targets of all codes every night and sends an email if one is unreachable. From the Pro plan onwards, it gets even better: You connect your website to Same-QR; for WordPress, there is a plugin (Beta). After a relaunch, Same-QR then suggests the new address for affected codes itself. Changes are only made after your confirmation.
Conclusion: why Same-QR
Same-QR makes the relaunch manageable for printed codes: Switch targets without reprinting, via agent, CLI, or dashboard, nightly check of all targets, and from Pro, suggestions for new addresses. No flyer or sign leads into the void after going live.

Frequently asked questions
Not with dynamic codes from Same-QR. You only change their target.
They help, but with each relaunch they become longer and are easily lost during domain changes. A direct target on the code is more robust.
Redirect it to a meaningful overview page instead of letting it go nowhere.
