Cancel Uniqode: What happens to printed QR codes?
What the help centre says about the end of the subscription
If you want to cancel Uniqode, according to the provider's help centre (as of October 2026): If the subscription expires, the codes become inactive. Printed codes will no longer reach their destination. According to the pricing page, the entry-level plan starts at $9 per month and is only available with annual payment. Check your account to see when your term ends.
Reactivation only in the same account
According to the help centre, inactive codes can be reactivated using the same short links, but only in the same account. This is fair: Those who return get their codes back. However, it also means: Another provider, including Same-QR, cannot take over these short links. Therefore, do not delete your account too hastily if you might need something later.
Redirect first, then cancel
- Export the code list as CSV, according to the help centre with Name, Short Link, Destination, and Scans.
- Create codes at Same-QR, starting from the Start plan also via "Import a spreadsheet".
- In Uniqode, set the destination of each code to the new Same-QR link; from PRO, also via mass change.
- Test printed codes, use only Same-QR for new prints.
- Let the subscription expire once the important prints have been replaced.
This is how you redirect the printed codes via Same-QR until the end of the subscription. The new short links are provided to you by the migration assistant after creation as a list "old short link → new Same-QR link". If you imported via spreadsheet, "Export all" helps: The CSV has an ID column, and the short link of each code is sameqr.com/r/ followed by this ID.
The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.
Custom domain at Uniqode
If you used a custom domain at Uniqode, according to the pricing page in the Plus plan or as an add-on for $2,000 per year per domain, your situation is better. The domain belongs to you. After the switch, you set up a redirect for each path via your web space or a forwarding rule at your DNS provider to the corresponding Same-QR link. Then the printed codes will also work after the end of the subscription, without reprinting. Same-QR itself does not offer a custom short link domain.
End subscription at Same-QR
At Same-QR, the end of a subscription is handled as follows: Codes within the quota of your new plan continue to run unchanged – in the free plan, the two oldest. Codes beyond that are deactivated by us only after a 14-day grace period, and you will receive three emails beforehand (7, 3, and 1 day before). Deactivated does not mean deleted: The code shows a notice instead of the destination when scanned and works again as soon as your plan covers it.
All paid Same-QR plans can be cancelled monthly at the end of the billing period, with no minimum term. You can also cancel without signing in via “Cancel contracts here” at the bottom of the website.
