Flyer for the restaurant: Promote pickup and delivery with QR code

What belongs on the flyer

A restaurant flyer has one goal: to get people to order or come by. Everything that does not contribute to this can be removed. Important are:

  • Name and a short sentence about what your establishment stands for.
  • A selection of dishes with prices that whet the appetite – not the entire menu.
  • Phone number for orders, clearly legible.
  • Opening and delivery times, delivery area, and minimum order value, if there is one.
  • Address and, if applicable, parking instructions for pickup.
  • A QR code for the complete, current menu.

QR code to menu

A printed flyer becomes outdated after the first price change. The QR code solves this: The flyer lists only a few stable offers, while the full menu with current prices and allergens is just one scan away.

It is important to use a dynamic code. It leads via a consistent address, the target of which you can change later – for example, if you move the menu to a new page. Same-QR provides the code as a vector file so that it is printed sharply on the flyer.

Distribute

  • Mailboxes in the delivery area – note stickers like "No advertising".
  • In every delivery and pickup bag.
  • Offices and businesses in the vicinity, delivered personally.
  • Hotels, holiday apartments and guesthouses, if the hosts agree.
  • At the checkout for takeaway.

A bag with a flyer reaches someone who has already placed an order. This is often the most effective distribution method overall.

Measure impact

Whether a flyer is worthwhile can be measured if it has its own QR code. Give each distribution campaign its own code, such as Flyer Briefkasten Nord and Flyer Tüte. Same-QR counts the scans per code. If you also ask about the source of the guests' knowledge during telephone orders, you get a useful picture.

The code also appends utm parameters to the URL with a campaign, so that visits appear as a separate source in your website's web analytics.

Reprinting to be avoided

What changes frequently does not belong on the flyer, but behind the QR code: daily offers, seasonal dishes, exact prices for the entire menu, holiday opening hours. This way, a flyer print run remains valid for longer.

If something fundamental changes anyway, such as the phone number, even the best code will not help. Then the rule is: better to print small runs more often than to have a stack that is wrong after three months.

Checklist for the flyer

  • Phone number large and clearly legible.
  • Delivery area, times and any minimum order value specified.
  • Few dishes with prices showing the offer.
  • Dynamic QR code for the complete menu, printed as a vector file.
  • Own code per distribution campaign to compare the effect.
  • Imprint details, as customary for advertising prints in your country.

A flyer does not need to be as beautiful as a poster. It must quickly convey what is available and how to order.

Frequently asked questions

How large should the QR code be on the flyer?

Large enough to be scanned comfortably from a normal reading distance. Test a sample print with several mobile phones.

May I throw flyers into every mailbox?

You should respect mailboxes with signs like "No advertising." The exact rules depend on the country.

Should prices be on the flyer?

For a selection, yes, so that guests can see the price level. The full menu with current prices belongs behind the QR code.
