Cancel Hovercode: What happens to printed QR codes?
What the pricing page says about cancellation
If you want to cancel Hovercode, the answer is on the pricing page. According to Hovercode's pricing page (as of October 2026), the first 3 dynamic codes remain active after cancellation; the rest become inactive and can be reactivated. The free plan remains: according to the pricing page, 3 dynamic codes without expiration, with unlimited scans and no ads.
This is a fair rule. For printed codes, it still means: Everything from the fourth code onward will not reach its destination after cancellation until you reactivate it.
The first three codes remain
According to the pricing page, these are the first 3 dynamic codes. Check in your account which ones they are for you. If your most important printed codes are among them, you are lucky. If not, they need a solution before cancellation.
- Create a list of all codes with the location of printing.
- Mark which ones belong to the first 3.
- For all others: Bridge to Same-QR, replacement, or let them expire consciously.
Redirect first, then cancel
- Create a new one at Same-QR for every code from the fourth onward.
- At Hovercode, set its destination to the new Same-QR link while the plan is active.
- Test printed codes, use only Same-QR for new prints.
- Cancel when these codes are replaced.
You can also redirect the first 3 codes to Same-QR. They continue to forward for free after cancellation, and you manage their destinations in one place.
The easiest way is the migration assistant under Dashboard → “QR codes” → “Move from another provider”: it reads your list as a CSV or Excel file, lets you assign the columns name, destination URL, old short link and labels, and creates the codes, as many as your plan allows. Afterwards you download a list “old short link → new Same-QR link”, which is exactly what you need for the bridge. An overview of switching is at sameqr.com/wechseln/en.
Custom domain at Hovercode
According to the pricing page, Hovercode offers a custom domain starting from the “Pro” plan. If you have used it, the domain belongs to you. After switching, you set up a redirect for each path via your web space or a forwarding rule at your DNS provider to the corresponding Same-QR link. Then the printed codes continue to work without a reprint. Same-QR itself does not offer a custom short link domain.
End subscription at Same-QR
At Same-QR, the end of a subscription is handled as follows: Codes within the quota of your new plan continue to run unchanged – in the free plan, the two oldest. Codes beyond that are deactivated by us only after a 14-day grace period, and you will receive three emails beforehand (7, 3, and 1 day before). Deactivated does not mean deleted: The code shows a notice instead of the destination when scanned and works again as soon as your plan covers it.
All paid Same-QR plans can be cancelled monthly at the end of the billing period, with no minimum term. You can also cancel without signing in via “Cancel contracts here” at the bottom of the website.
