Ski and mountain hut: Menu, opening hours and weather under control
Special guests, special location
A ski hut menu must function differently than in the valley. Guests are hungry, often frozen, in ski clothing and with gloves. Many come from abroad. And between half twelve and half two almost everyone arrives at once.
In addition, there are the conditions on the mountain: deliveries are complex, receiving and electricity are not always guaranteed, and the weather determines whether anyone comes at all.
Menu for the crowd
- A short menu with classics that come quickly from the kitchen: soups, dumplings, Kaiserschmarrn, Germknödel, sausages.
- For self-service: large signs at the checkout, readable from the queue.
- Prices and allergens clearly visible so that no questions arise at the checkout.
- A QR code at the tables and in the queue so that guests can select in advance.
Same-QR offers its own designs for beer and beer gardens and for wine, which also fit a hut. The menu is built for the mobile phone screen and loads quickly – important when the network on the mountain is weak. Where there is no reception at all, the board remains indispensable; a guest Wi-Fi can help.
Weather and opening
Whether the hut is open depends on the weather for summer huts and on lift operations for ski huts. Hikers and skiers want to know this before they ascend. A current page with opening hours, which you link to from the website, Google profile, and notice board in the valley, reliably answers the question.
For this purpose, the template Opening Hours & Directions is suitable, with times for each day of the week, address, and phone number. A QR code at the valley station or at the hiking parking lot leads there. In case of short-term closure, you change the page and the Google profile - preferably in the morning, before the first guests set off.
International guests
In ski resorts, guests from many countries are present. Regional dishes should therefore be explained briefly, for example "Kasspatzln - Spätzle with mountain cheese and fried onions". An English addition in the description helps many.
For allergy sufferers, the legend is crucial. On the digital menu from Same-QR, it appears automatically in the language of the guest's mobile phone - German, English, French, Italian or Spanish. The dishes themselves are not translated. And the currency can also be set per menu, such as Swiss francs for a hut in Graubünden.
Season change
Many cabins have a winter and a summer season, some with different menus and opening hours. With a dynamic QR code, the printed codes remain valid across all seasons: you update the menu instead of printing new stickers. In the off-season, the code can lead to a page that says when it starts again.
Checklist for the hut
- Short menu with quick classics.
- Chalkboards readable from the queue, prices and allergens visible.
- QR codes are weatherproof and regularly inspected.
- Opening status online current, best checked every morning.
- Short explanations of regional courts for international guests.
- Seasonal changes and off-seasons are communicated across all channels.
At the mountain, every hand movement counts. A menu that answers questions before they are asked significantly relieves the team during the midday peak.
Frequently asked questions
