QR codes for tradespeople: company van, site sign and service sticker

Trade businesses print things that last: lettering on the company van, site hoarding banners, stickers on boilers or equipment. What is written on them, however, goes out of date faster than the material. A new number for the emergency service, a new online calendar, a new website. A dynamic QR code keeps both together, because its destination can be changed while the sticker stays in place.

Where QR codes pay off for tradespeople

  • Service sticker on boiler, ventilation or gate: request a service, emergency contact, operating notes
  • Company van: services, contact details and service area
  • Site hoarding and site sign: who is building here, what is being built, open apprenticeships
  • Quote and invoice: write a review, care instructions, warranty terms
  • Handover folder: manuals for the installed appliances

With 20 dynamic QR codes you can give every vehicle and every type of sticker its own code and see from the scans which one is used.

The service sticker: the strongest spot

Customers look at the equipment exactly when they need you. A QR code on the service sticker takes them to you in seconds instead of to a competitor from the search engine. Do not point the code directly to a phone number, but to a small contact page with emergency service, appointment request and opening hours. If the number changes, you only update the page, and thousands of stickers stay correct.

Company van and hoarding: print large enough

As a rule of thumb, the code should be at least one tenth of the distance from which it is scanned. Scanning from two metres needs a code of about 20 cm. That is easy on the back of the van, and often on the side door too. Use matt film so sunlight does not reflect, and make sure the contrast is high.

How many scans a trade business needs

Service stickers and vans bring rather few but valuable scans. A business with a few hundred customer installations usually stays far below 1,000 scans a month. That is the limit that applies to the whole account on the free plan. The two destination changes per code also last a long time if the code points to a page you maintain yourself.

What is included for free

At Same-QR, 20 dynamic QR codes are permanently free, with no trial period and no credit card. There are no ads when scanning. For printing, PDF, SVG and PNG are available, also in a white version for dark vehicles. Your own colours and your logo in the code belong to the paid plans.

Conclusion

In the trades, printed items last for years. With a dynamic QR code the destination stays up to date too. Start with the service sticker, where a scan is worth the most, and point the code to a contact page rather than a number.

Frequently asked questions

How big does a QR code on the company van need to be?

As a rule of thumb, one tenth of the scanning distance. For two metres that means about 20 cm per side.

Should the QR code on the service sticker call directly?

Better not. A link to a contact page can be updated if the number changes. The sticker then stays correct.

Is the QR code also available in white for dark vehicles?

Yes, there is a white version for dark backgrounds to download.
