Which QR code provider keeps printed codes valid?

Our answer: Printed codes remain valid with a provider that has no trial, does not tie codes to a subscription, and deletes nothing during a plan change. At Same-QR, codes run indefinitely within your quota, even in the Free plan. Three moments when codes become invalid with many providers:

Moment 1: after the trial

The most common case. A dynamic code is free for 7 or 14 days and then leads to a payment page. If nothing is stated on the homepage, check the terms and conditions under "Trial" or "Test period".

Moment 2: after cancellation

Some providers disable all codes as soon as the subscription ends. Others let a part continue in the Free plan. Ask specifically: How many of my codes still work after cancellation?

Moment 3: after a downgrade

You switch from 50 to 3 codes. What happens to the remaining 47? Deleted, paused, or still active? Deleted means reprint, paused means: They come back when you need more again.

Who decides which codes continue to run?

If you have more codes than your plan supports, plan ahead. Delete codes that are no longer printed and in circulation, and keep the ones on signs, packaging, and standees. A list with "Code, Location, Quantity" helps with this.

Valid also means correct

A code can be valid and still lead to nowhere if the page behind it has disappeared. And if the short address of a deleted code is reassigned, an old print will lead to foreign content. Ask about both.

Checklist before a large print run

  • Is there a trial, and what happens after?
  • What happens after cancellation and downgrade?
  • Are codes deleted or only paused?
  • Is a deleted address reassigned?
  • Does the provider notice when the destination is dead?

The rules at Same-QR

  • no trial, free plan permanently
  • after cancellation or downgrade, excess codes are paused after 14 days and three reminders, not deleted, and come back to life as soon as the plan supports them
  • a paused code shows a notice instead of the destination when scanned
  • Short addresses of deleted codes are never reassigned

Conclusion

Printed codes remain valid only if the provider does not use them as leverage. Go through the checklist before the run goes to press, not after.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my printed QR code stop working?

Often a trial has expired, a subscription has been canceled, or the destination page has disappeared. First, check your account with the provider.

Are codes deleted after cancellation?

Every provider handles this differently. At Same-QR, excess codes are paused, not deleted.

What do scanners see for a paused code?

Usually a notice instead of the destination. Ask your provider exactly what is displayed.

Can I save a disabled code?

If the provider only paused it, yes, with a suitable plan. If it is deleted, only a new print helps.
