QR Code for Google Drive: Share Files & Folders Without Typing

Bild von Unsplash

Make the Share Link Scannable Directly

Instead of typing a long Google Drive link or sending it via email, a scan is enough: The QR code opens the shared file or folder directly in the browser.

Update Content, Code Remains Valid

If the content in the folder is replaced or the share is switched to a new file, only the link in the Same-QR dashboard needs to be adjusted — printed stickers, handouts, or brochures remain valid unchanged.

Practical Use Cases

  • Handout for a presentation with a QR code linking to the slides
  • Job application documents or portfolio as a shared folder
  • Form or template that is regularly updated

Frequently asked questions

Does the Google Drive file need to be publicly shared?

Yes, the share must be set to at least "Anyone with the link", otherwise scanners without login cannot access it.

Does this also work with other cloud services like Dropbox?

Yes, technically the QR code is a normal redirect — you can use any publicly accessible URL, including from Dropbox or OneDrive.
