Getting Started with Same-QR: From a Free Account to a Printed QR Code

Anyone can create a QR code for free today using any generator. The difference lies in what happens after printing. A static QR code embeds the address permanently in the pattern. If the address changes, the printed code becomes worthless. A dynamic QR code, like those offered by Same-QR, contains a short redirect. You can change the destination behind it at any time, while the printed pattern remains valid. This guide takes you from account creation to the printed code.

What you need

  • an email address or a Google account
  • the destination: a web address, a PDF, your Wi-Fi details, or similar
  • five minutes

You do not need a credit card. The free plan, which includes one dynamic QR code and 10,000 scans per month, has no expiration date.

Step 1: Create an account

Open sameqr.com and tap “Start for free”. Register with your email address or with Google. You will then land in the dashboard. At the top (or at the bottom on mobile), you will see the main sections, with “QR codes” leading the way.

Step 2: Create your first QR code

In the “QR codes” section, you create the code: select a type, enter a name and destination, then click “Create”.

  • 1. Select a type: Link is the default. Other options include Text, PDF, WLAN, WhatsApp, PayPal, E-mail, SMS, Call, and a custom page. Digital business cards are found in the separate “vCards” section.
  • 2. Assign a name: This is visible only to you, for example “Autumn Flyer” or “Table stand”.
  • 3. Enter the destination: for instance, the URL of your website. Even a long URL with parameters is no problem; the pattern size remains the same.
  • 4. Optionally “Custom Link”: Leaving this blank generates an automatic link. A custom link cannot be changed after creation, as it is embedded in the printed QR code.
  • 5. Tap “Create”.

Step 3: Download and print

For the QR code, tap “Download” and choose the format:

FormatFor what
PDFPrint, screen printing, film
SVGVector for graphic software and layout, scalable to any size
PNGScreen, website, Office documents

For printing on dark backgrounds, a white variant is available. For pages you build with Same-QR, a CMYK print template is also provided for the printer. Custom colors and your logo in the QR code are part of the paid plans.

Before you print: Scan the QR code with two different phones, leave a light border around it, and make it slightly larger rather than too small.

Step 4: Change the target later

Once the QR code is printed and the action is complete, open it in the “QR codes” section and enter a new target. From that moment on, every printed code will lead there. All previous targets are listed in the “Target history,” and you can restore one using “Back to this earlier target.” In the free plan, you can change the target twice per QR code; in the paid plans, you can change it as often as you like.

No website? Create a page

If a target is missing, Same-QR builds a page for you: a menu, opening hours with directions, a price list, or a link page. Under “Menus” or “Create website,” you choose a template, fill it out, and publish it. Upon first publication, Same-QR automatically creates the appropriate QR code.

Conclusion

Create an account, enter the type and target, download, print: That’s all a dynamic QR code requires. The major advantage comes later, when the target changes and the print remains valid. You can start for free on sameqr.com; a dynamic QR code is permanently free.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QR code really permanently free?

Yes. A dynamic QR code with 10,000 scans per month is included in the Free plan with no expiration date and no credit card required.

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?

In a static QR code, the target is fixed in the pattern. In a dynamic QR code, a redirect is embedded in the pattern, whose target you can change at any time.

Which format do I need for printing?

PDF or SVG, both are vector formats and remain sharp at any size. PNG is intended for screens.

Can I create a QR code from a link?

Yes. Select the Link type, enter the address as the destination, and tap “Create”.
