Import website: Create QR codes from a list of pages instead of typing in addresses

If you need many qr codes for website pages, you know the problem: Each address is copied, pasted, and hopefully saved without typos. A year later, the relaunch happens, the addresses change, and no one remembers which printed code pointed where. “Import website” addresses both points.

How the import works

You enter your website address. We first read the sitemap; if there isn’t one, we follow the links. Only public pages are read, and anything your robots.txt forbids is excluded. This covers up to 200 pages per website. For each page, we store the address, title, and a short text sample.

Then, when creating a QR code, you select the target from the list of your pages instead of typing it in. A new import adds new pages and notes which ones have disappeared.

What happens after a relaunch

If you have rebuilt the website, click “I have rebuilt my site: sync now”. For each QR code, the matching new page is searched for, based on these criteria in this order:

  • 1. The website redirects the old address itself, e.g., via a 301. Then the suggestion is reliable because it is your own response.
  • 2. The same path still exists, e.g., after a domain change.
  • 3. A page with the same title.
  • 4. A page with similar text and a similar address.

Nothing is changed without you. You see the “Suggestions”, can choose “Apply only the safe ones” or check each one individually, and where nothing fits, you enter your own address.

Tip before every relaunch

The best safeguard is on your website: redirect old addresses to the new ones via a 301. This helps search engines, bookmarks, and old links in emails, and it makes the suggestions for printed QR codes safe. It is always worth creating a list of old and new addresses.

Which plan includes this

Website scanning is included in Gastro Pro and Gastro Expert as well as all Marketing plans.

Conclusion

Once scanned, you select targets from a list and receive reasoned suggestions for each printed QR code after a redesign. The decision remains with you. You can test it for free at sameqr.com.

Frequently asked questions

Does the scanning also read protected areas?

No. Only public pages are read, and restrictions in the robots.txt are respected.

Are my QR codes automatically updated after a relaunch?

No. You receive suggestions and confirm them; only then is a target changed.

How many pages are scanned?

Up to 200 pages per website.
