Translate your menu: your menu in your guests' language

"Translate menu" is searched hundreds of times a month in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Often by guests sitting in front of a German menu with their phones, using a translation app. It is better when the menu appears directly in their language. In Same-QR, you translate your digital menu with one click, check the result, and enable the languages.

Why a translated menu

If a guest does not understand a dish, they order what they know or ask for help. Both cost sales and time. A menu in the guest's language explains specialties like Tafelspitz or Kaiserschmarrn, makes allergens understandable, and reduces translation work for the service staff, especially during peak season.

Select languages and translate

  • 1. Open your menu in the "Menus" tab and go to the "Menu in other languages" section.
  • 2. Check under "Language of your menu" which language you are writing in.
  • 3. Add languages under "Translate into". The search field finds them by name, such as Turkish, Chinese, or Croatian.
  • 4. Tap "Translate menu". Same-QR translates the entire menu into all selected languages.

Review and apply

After the translation, the status shows “Please review”. Use “Review and correct” to check the texts; the preview shows them exactly as guests will see them. Correct anything that doesn’t fit, such as a dish name that should remain in the original language. Only after you click “Accept” does the language appear on your menu.

Some elements are never translated: prices, links, phone numbers, and allergen abbreviations. They remain the same in every language.

What guests see

Guests automatically see their language: the menu opens in the language of their phone if you have translated it. Otherwise, English appears if available, or the original language. At the top of the menu, guests can switch languages at any time. A separate QR code for each language is not needed; one QR code suffices for all.

Re-translate after changes

If you change a text later, the language status shows “Changed since the last translation”. Clicking “Translate again” translates only the modified texts. Until then, guests see the original language in those sections. Price changes apply immediately in all languages, as prices are not translated anyway.

Which languages make sense

  • Start with English: it is the common language for almost all international guests.
  • Then choose the most common countries of origin for your guests: perhaps German and Italian on Lake Garda, Italian and Spanish in Vienna, or Czech, Hungarian, Slovenian, or Polish in border regions.
  • In tourist destinations with guests from Asia, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean can be helpful.
  • Ask your staff: they usually know best which languages are spoken at the tables.
