Manage QR codes for multiple clients: Client projects for agencies
For an agency, QR codes are rarely one-offs. The bakery needs codes for bags and display stands, the machine builder for trade show walls and catalogs, the municipality for signs. Before you know it, you have hundreds, and the moment a client’s first relaunch comes around, it becomes costly to figure out which codes belong to them.
What a client project is
A project represents one client. It has a name, one or more websites, and that client’s QR codes. Each QR code belongs to at most one project. Labels like “Trade show” or “Print 2026” can still be used across all projects.
How to work with it
- 1. In the “QR codes” section, create a “New client project”: enter the client’s name and, if available, their websites.
- 2. Open the project. New QR codes will now automatically be added to it.
- 3. Import the client’s website into the project. Their pages will then be available as destinations, separate from other clients’ pages.
- 4. Assign existing QR codes using “Move to another project”.
The overview shows all projects with the number of their QR codes and, if applicable, how many destinations are broken.
Why Separation Matters in a Relaunch
When a client revamps their website, you simply align their codes with their new pages. Without separation, a suggestion might inadvertently point to another client’s page with a similar title. With projects, every alignment stays within the correct context.
Good Habits for Agencies
- One project per billing recipient, not per campaign. Campaigns are labels.
- Name codes descriptively: “Trade Fair Wall Hall 3” instead of “QR 17”.
- Register every client website in the project, including the shop and career page.
- Before printing, check the code’s URL and scan it at least once.
- At the end of a client relationship, clarify who will continue to manage the printed codes.
Pricing Plans
Client projects are available in the Marketing plans: Starter with 1 project, Pro with 4, and Expert with 10 projects. For more clients, a custom offer is available upon request. In Gastro Expert, projects are called establishments and support up to 5 own locations.
Conclusion
Client projects separate websites and QR codes by client, turning a client relaunch into a task that takes minutes instead of hours. You can test it for free at sameqr.com.
